Emotional labor is the nagging feeling of many people — especially women and feminine folks — that they're unpaid house cleaners, personal assistants, therapists, and home managers in their families, workplaces, and social groups. Single people often provide emotional labor for their friends, extended families, and communities, and yet their time and energy are not valued in the same way as those with families and partners.
